2 KINGDOMS

The Good News of the Bible is a Story of 2 Kingdoms—and a Rescuer King.

Jesus called the Apostle Paul with these words:

Acts 26:18

Open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those made holy by faith in me.

Clearly echoing this calling, Paul described the Good News like this:

Colossians 1:12-14

Give thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in the light. For he has rescued us from the authority of darkness and transferred us to the Kingdom of his beloved Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.

There’s more to life than what meets the eye. Behind the scenes are two very different kingdoms—two realms of authority above every other power structure. Though these kingdoms are spiritual, they are nonetheless very real.

2 Corinthians 4:18

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

The first is the kingdom of darkness. This kingdom is ruled by Satan and marked by sin and slavery. The second is God’s eternal Kingdom of Light, marked by forgiveness and freedom.

The bad news is that we are born into the kingdom of darkness—captives who can’t escape. The Good News is that there’s another Kingdom and a Rescuer King. God sent His One and Only Son into enemy-occupied territory to rescue us. Through His death on the cross and His resurrection to new life, Jesus has secured our freedom and forgiveness.

You don’t have to be a captive any longer. Jesus invites you to experience true freedom and full forgiveness by turning from your sin and trusting in Him.

Mark 1:15

“The time has come,” Jesus said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

This is the Good News the Bible proclaims—and it’s still good news today!

The short video below will help visualize this Good News and explain what it means for your life.

Are you ready to receive God’s forgiveness and freedom? Here’s a simple prayer to get you started:

God, I repent. I have rebelled against Your authority and I have lived for myself instead of You. I am so sorry for my sin. Please forgive me. Thank You for the gift of Jesus’ death on the cross for my sin and His resurrection to new life. I believe in Jesus. Thank You for rescuing me from the kingdom of darkness and transferring me into the Kingdom of Light. Thank You for forgiving my sin and freeing me from Satan. I now surrender to King Jesus. Help me to follow His leadership. Amen.
